In the entire history of WTA (Women's Tennis) Rankings, this is the first time the top 10 (actually top 11) players are all from different countries.
The top ten counties include: Denmark, Belgium, Russia, Italy, Australia, United States of America, China, Serbia, Belarus, Poland, and Israel.
Another surprising fact is that usually the eastern/Asian countries had not been very strong in tennis but now they have produced a top ten player who looks as if she will keep climbing up the rankings.
I think that this means tennis is becoming more recognized worldwide and is gaining popularity in regions that had not paid much attention before.
What do you think the fact that Women's Tennis is not dominated by one team/country means?
